Children's Black Bookfair 2025

Where the Internet Goes to Sleep was featured at the Young LIT Stars Children’s Black Book Fair, held at Hackney Central Library for its second annual celebration.

The fair amplifies the voices of young Black writers and brought together 20 published authors under 18 for an afternoon of interactive reading zones, creative workshops, arts and crafts, storytelling, and performances.

Highlights included:

  • The fair’s opening by publishing pioneer Eric Huntley (age 94)

  • Dr Ronx hosting the London Spelling Bee Championship finals

  • Ramzee, author and illustrator of The Cheat Book, leading an interactive workshop

  • Michael DeSouza, creator of the iconic Rastamouse, reading from his new book Lil’ Bruv

The event was free to attend, with goodie bags for the first 100 children and a prize draw for book collections worth £100 — a joyful celebration of community, storytelling, and representation.

Free Books Festival

We were delighted that Where the Internet Goes to Sleep was on display at this year’s Free Books Festival, hosted by Free Books Campaign.

The festival marked its 5th birthday with a full day of activities, workshops, panels, and demonstrations at Big Penny Social — alongside food, drinks, and of course, books.

The programme brought together stories in every form, from literature to gaming, audiobooks to journalism, directing to photography, and more.

A huge thank you to the festival’s sponsors and partners, including Spotify, Warner Bros Discovery, OBODO Library & Resource Centre, and many others, for creating such an inspiring space for communities to connect through storytelling.
